Get Help

This will be the first line of defense that you have for yourself. We recommend that you call 911 as soon as you are able. And if not you, then we recommend asking someone to call on your behalf.

Get Medical Attention

After the police arrive and help, they should also call an ambulance to escort you to the hospital. If you aren’t injured, you might not need medical attention.

Take Pictures

Take a picture of exactly where you slipped, and a picture of the injury as well. If you are unable to take pictures of the area where the fall occurred, you should ask a family member or friend to take pictures and document the surroundings for you. 

Find a Witness

Situations such as a fall might not have any witnesses--you may be in an area with few people. However, if you are fortunate to have someone who did see you slip and fall, you should ask them if they would be willing to be a witness to the event. 

If litigation ensures, then you will have someone to speak on your behalf of the truth of your case. Be sure to secure a telephone number and address of any witnesses. An eyewitness can help to make your claim more credible. 

Report your fall. Oftentimes a property owner or landlord is unaware of what has happened on their property. So you should report the accident to them. If you are unable to do this, we recommend again asking a family member or friend to do so on your behalf.
